Master Suite
Bathroom & Bedroom Renovation
The Problem...
This client was tired of staring at the same old yellow walls, worn-out carpeting, and tired furniture in their main bedroom. Poor lighting added a dullness to the home, and outdated furniture dragged down the overall aesthetic.
- the Before -
Like most projects it isn't pretty, but it's a start!
The space felt a bit dark and as the family described - bland. It was time to take this drab before into a colorful AFTER. They needed more of a luxury feel, more color, and more personality. So I waved my magic wand and ta-da! The reveal is below.
After
They wanted a brand new main bedroom, updating the traditional look to evoke feelings of warmth, relaxation, and just a little touch of bling! The couple wanted a bathroom that felt more open than the L-shaped room it was.
They did not want to keep a jetted tub, but rather incorporate a large two-person shower. His and hers vanities and a water closet were on their wish list, as well as a place to brew a morning cup of coffee, with materials that were elegant but not too feminine.
The Solution
the Vibe
We needed to nail down the look and feel of the project.
We discussed a bright and airy bathroom. New light fixtures and sconces would add sparkle and bounce the light around the space. The bedroom theme was dark and cozy. They loved the art deco nod in the wallpaper and we picked rich jewel tones to create a luxury feel.
After
This space was needing a lot of TLC and the beauty of wallpaper is it's now more than ever easy to apply beautiful large decals that make a big statement. It makes the room feel cozy and we add some pop of color with the plum tones in the pillows. This is now the ultimate master suite getaway. Who needs a hotel? It's time for a stay-cation.

The new soft cream carpeting, complete with a subtle arabesque pattern and soft gray painted walls, brought a beautiful feeling of calm to the primary bedroom while inviting wall art and pops of blue accents added visual interest to the neutral background. Finally, we completed the look with luxurious new bedding with ribbon trim details and velvet pillow covers.
Master Bedroom
- Before & After -
Take a look at the beginning and end result.
They decided to move forward with the fresh and modern plan for the bedroom, and a dark and cozy suite for the bedroom. This made for the perfect getaway oasis they can retreat to in their own home versus having to book for a hotel. They swapped a few items for ones on the other concept board, and a list of products was provided for their approval. Photorealistic renders showing their selected products in their room provided the reassurance they wanted and they were so excited to see the room come to life. Since they were in-person / full-service clients, I handled the product sourcing, ordering, tracking, delivery, final installation, and styling.
This couple now uses this space more than ever versus just for sleeping. It's a space they can use and enjoy all day. They were so happy with the results which makes working 1:1 with clients so rewarding. I am always dedicated to bringing my client's vision to life in the way they need. Form over function? Well, why not both? That's what we do at Horizon Interior Design. My studio is dedicated to making vibrant and energetic spaces that aren't cookie-cutter.
